Meet Sarah, our new Creative Producer!

Most important question first… how do you take your coffee?

First thing in the morning, a black filter coffee, anything after it’s a flat white.

What attracted you to Dead Pixel?

The culture of the company. I have done some freelance food styling on various productions with Dead Pixel in the past and I loved the professional but friendly atmosphere, I felt valued and part of the team. I am a massive foodie and love the outdoors so practically all Dead Pixel’s shoots, align with my passions. Oh and getting birthday’s off too!

What do you think you can bring to the team?

I have 10 years of experience in TV production working at ITV which has given me a wealth of skills that I can bring to Dead Pixel. As an assistant director, I had excellent time management skills, which is something I can bring to shoots in my new role, ensuring they are realistically scheduled and run on time. I also spent some time in the production office, which involved organising the shoots, this included going on recces, producing risk assessments and booking kit and facilities. I have high attention to detail as everything in TV was done to a high industry standard and this experience is something I will bring to every Dead Pixel shoot. And then there’s my passion project which turned into my full-time job Sarah’s Healthy Kitchen. Owning my own business I have an understanding of social strategy, and marketing as well as an abundance of foodie knowledge and styling.

What is Sarah's Healthy Kitchen?

It’s my small business that I started in lockdown. It started as a passion project to keep me busy. I love to cook and bake so I started to develop recipes I wanted to try and used my DSLR to shoot videos and stills of the process. I then shared them on my social media account. It quickly developed into a full-time business, working for brands such as Morrisons, Simply Cook and Happy Egg co. This is what inspired me to become a producer but on a bigger scale. Owning my own business and producing everything from start to finish has given me the necessary foundations a producer needs.

How will your new clients at Dead Pixel benefit from that foodie experience?

My previous experience shooting and styling foodie content has taught me how food performs, which will help when planning creative ideas for clients. I have a knack for concepting and developing recipes from scratch, I feel this knowledge will help assist our foodie clients should they need it. I have worked with Dead Pixel in the past, food styling on shoots and sourcing props, so I can now bring this knowledge in-house to assist our clients from the initial pre-production stages through to filming.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

To be part of a team again after working for myself since COVID, but also to be part of unique, exciting shoots. In my first week, I went to the south of France on a shoot, so I’m excited for more of those!

What has impressed you the most since joining?

How awesome everyone is, it's a very welcoming place to work. I think everyone brings a unique set of skills from different backgrounds and that's what makes it work.

What's your dream project to work on?

I know they say don’t work with animals but I’d love a project that involved animals as I’m a huge animal lover. I’m gutted I wasn’t here for the Knowsley Safari project. But something Attenborough style would be cool.

And finally… you can only listen to one artist for a year, who is it?

Mumford and sons.
