Brief
Manchester based design agency K2L approached us for some ideas on how to produce a new gym membership social advert for their client, Salford Community Leisure. Taking inspiration from the popular campaign ‘This Girl Can’ we wanted to appeal to all gym goers of all shapes, sizes and abilities with a ‘For…. Salford’ effort.
Production
After an in depth location scout to see which of the 9 leisure facilities would be best suited for filming, we began scheduling. Filming took place over 2.5 days using genuine gym members and volunteers. We wanted to feature as many classes and activities as possible to show the range and capabilities of the leisure centres.
Gyms have notoriously ‘uncinematic’ lighting which whilst practical isn’t the most pleasant looking image, especially for skin tones. Every setup was carefully lit and directed making sure any members in the background were aware of filming making safety an absolute priority.
Post Production
After production was finalised it was straight into the edit to work through the 264GB of raw footage. We worked with the creative agency to ensure the text featured in the video was on brand and relevant to their target audience. We paid particular attention to the sound design making sure each shot or movement had a relevant and complimentary sound effect to truly immerse the consumer.
